Anti-Idling Workshop at Lionel Primary

From November 2021 to March 2022, the MP Smarter Travel team visited 66 schools in 26 London Boroughs, to deliver free air quality workshops and anti-idling activities. On Tuesday 8th of March, Smarter Travel led their Anti-Idling Workshop for the children of Lionel Primary.
In this workshop they learnt about the dangers of air pollution and how they are spread around London. Notably, they learnt that Hounslow is close to one of the most polluted hubs in London, Heathrow Airport.
They also discussed the dangers of idling and its contribution to bad air quality in front of schools during pick up time. After which, the ecowarriors of the school went out front, to tell parents idling in front of the school about what they had learnt.
They recorded their encounters in a log, to which all parents pledged to never idle again at the end.
This activity also counted towards the STARS accreditation scheme as a 'smarter driving' activity under 'anti-idling campaign'.
