Hounslow Schools are Active Travel STARS
21 June 2018
STARS (Sustainable Travel: Active Responsible Safe), is Transport for London's sustainable school travel scheme that inspires young Londoners to think differently about travel and its impact on their health, well-being and the environment.
1,500 schools are currently taking part in STARS across the whole of London and the School Travel Team at Hounslow Council are working with a number of schools within the borough to help them achieve either a Bronze, Silver or Gold STARS accreditation.
As part of STARS, schools have taken part in a number of free active travel initiatives cross the academic year, including: Walk to School Week, Sustrans 'Big Pedal', Dr. Bike, scooter/pedestrian skills training, and STARS accreditation workshops! To reward all of their hard work, three schools received the all-new 'Hounslow STARS Awards' which were presented recently at a special event held at the Hounslow Professional Development Centre.
- Hounslow STARS Travel Champion of the Year Award: Alexandra Primary School.
- Hounslow Rising 'STAR' Award: Southville Infant and Nursery School.
- Hounslow Exceptional Contribution to Active Travel Award: Our Lady and St John RC Primary School.
Congratulations to these schools for all of their hard work!
