National Road Safety week aims to raise awareness about particular issues this years them is 'drive less, live more' promoting sustainable travel as an alternative to using the car, creating safer more pleasant roads in the borough. 

What can be done at schools?

Schools can work towards the STARS TfL accreditation by taking part in the Road Safety week. There are a number of activities they can take part in and resources are available online for those schools who are taking part. 

Schools in the borough can find out about what initiatives are on offer to schools during the Road Safety Week from their School Travel Plan officer. If Schools are not currently working towards TfL's School Travel Plan process they can find out more here.

What can you do at work? 

Promoting sustainable travel promotes a healthier,more sustainable workplace and can save the company as well as it's employees money. During Road Safety week, employees are encouraged to promote sustainable initiatives to staff such as walking, cycling and public transport options for staff. There is a variety of information available on Hounslow Travel Active for assistance in changing how you travel to more sustainable modes. 

Businesses can apply for TfL's Cycling workplaces free scheme if they require new cycling facilities such as cycle parking. Find out more about the scheme here.
