Hounslow's Dockless Bike Hire Trial

The London Borough of Hounslow recently announced the launch of a 12-month trial of Mobike dockless hire bikes in the borough!
The bikes, which can be hired using a smartphone app, are now in Chiswick and Brentford and ready and waiting to be used.
Unlike inner London’s Santander Bikes (a.k.a Boris Bikes), Mobikes can be picked up and dropped off anywhere in the borough. This means you can begin and end your journey where you need to go.
Speaking about the trial, the Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Amrit Mann, said;
"Encouraging more local journeys to be made on two wheels forms a key part of our plan to increase physical activity levels and so improve health, reduce transport-related pollution and help ease congestion. We think this scheme offers a convenient new option for anyone looking to make a short trip in and around our borough when they don't necessarily have their own bike. We are really keen to hear what people think about the scheme so that we can decide whether the trial should be made permanent so please do let us know your about your experiences!”
To hire a Mobike all you need to do is:
1) Download the Mobike app: https://mobike.com/uk/
2) Sign up with the discounted membership rate of just £1 per year.
3) Find a bike near you, tap unlock on the app and scan the QR code on the bike (square bar code by the handlebars)
4) Ping! The bike is unlocked and ready to use for just 50p per half hour.
