Feltham Works Update

28 November 2019

Hounslow Road reopening in one direction on 1 December

Hounslow Road will reopen in one direction between New Road and Hanworth Road, southbound towards the town centre. There will be a pedestrian route over Hounslow Road, enabling people to walk from New Road into the town centre. Traffic will continue to be controlled by temporary traffic signals at the New Road junction and at the Hounslow Road junction. These signals will be in place until the permanent signals are installed.
Hounslow Highways is continuing construction of the scheme. Hounslow Road is due to fully reopen in 2020. The widening of the Longford Bridge will also be completed next year.

Changes to bus routes and bus stops in Feltham

Following the partial reopening of Hounslow Road on Sunday 1 December, bus diversion routes will change. All bus routes through Feltham (apart from the 490) will travel southbound on their original route along Hounslow Road (instead of Browells Lane). Northbound buses will continue on their diversion route via Hanworth Road and Harlington Road East. The 490 will continue on diversion in both directions and not serve Feltham Station.

There will also be changes to the bus stops in High Street. The northbound bus stop (stop G) outside Halifax and the southbound bus stop (stop H) outside New Chapel Square will reopen. The northbound bus stop (stop J) outside Tennessee Chicken will be permanently closed.
Further information on bus routes and where to catch your bus can be found here

High Street update

Construction work in High Street outside The Centre will be completed by 30 November. Construction further along High Street between The Centre and Browells Lane is expected to be completed by Christmas. Work around the Browells Lane junction will be completed by the end of November after which, TfL will install new traffic signals at the junction. Until these are operational, the temporary signals remain in use.

From the new year, the focus will turn to Bedfont Lane both north and south of the railway line. To the north of Bedfont Lane new parking will be provided for the shops. Footways, carriageway and street lighting will also be renewed on both sections of Bedfont Lane. Later in the year, once the new shared pedestrian and cycle bridge nears completion, a new parallel zebra and cycle crossing will be constructed adjacent to the new bridge.
We would like to thank all residents, businesses and visitors to Feltham for their patience and understand during these essential improvement works. We look forward to sharing more news about the project with you in the new year.
